Buses, Trains & Multi-Modal Transport

Ground transport between cities — bus, train, or a mix of both — is usually the cheapest and often the most scenic way to cover regional distances, but it's also the segment where booking is most fragmented: a route might be run by several competing operators, each selling tickets mainly through their own site, in a local language, on a domestic payment method a foreign traveller can't always use.

The platforms in this category exist to paper over that fragmentation — searching across multiple bus and rail operators in one place, in English, on a card that works internationally. Coverage still varies a lot by region: a platform that's excellent for searching buses across Southeast Asia isn't necessarily the strongest option for European rail, so it's worth checking which one actually covers the route you need before assuming any of them is universal.

None of these replace booking directly with a national rail operator when one exists and sells its own tickets easily online — they're most useful exactly where that isn't the case.

The right choice here mostly comes down to which region and route you're travelling, and whether the platform's coverage actually reaches the specific operator you need. Provider pages below go into what each one is actually built for, and where two options genuinely overlap, a comparison page puts them side by side.
